The CHAIR of Wish

Translation: The video installation artwork "The Chair of Wish" features an overall design composed of an inflatable mold shaped like a sofa, various toys on the mold, wooden slices, photographs, and a display screen. In the conceptualization process of "The Chair of Wish," I first determined that the work needed an object that could be viewed from multiple angles in reality. What came to mind was the childhood memory of the "Inflatable Kingdom" in amusement parks (a type of inflatable model children's playground, some of which are built like castles, where children can sit and play inside). The longing for the bustling amusement park during childhood and the attachment to the company of grandparents give the author a special affection for many plastic, vibrant items.

The material selection for the work is based on such emotions and memories, transforming everyday furniture—a sofa—into an inflatable transparent mold, symbolizing a vivid, dreamlike absence of memory and a vacuum, seemingly inviting the audience to sit down. Meanwhile, the display screen placed on the sofa plays dynamic videos in the "Dream Core" style, implying the passage of memory time.
